Hot Wheels Batmobile upgrade and modification

I had to have the Hot Wheels Batmobile. For me that's the true Batman car. However, the car's wheels makes it look too much like a toy. I swapped a set of wheels from a Johnny Lightning Camaro that I bought just for the occasion. I was pretty much satisfied with the result, but then I had to do more. I detailed the "cockpit" windows, added some stripes and painted the interior black. Now it looks a lot more like the real thing and looks pretty good in my collection.

The Matchbox Commuter

Being a model builder, I couldn't resist trying my luck and modifying a 1/64 scale car. I got this Matchbox #22 Commuter circa 1970 at a flea market for $0.25. I took it apart, stripped the paint with my Dremel and cleaned the glass the best I could. I then got some Centerline wheels from a Johnny Lightning donor car. It was not easy to fit on the frame but it worked. I painted the car with a spray can of Dupli-Color strawberry red and redid the chrome with Floquil super bright silver. Reassembled everything and now I have a very unique car in my collection.

My first Johnny Lightning car

This is the car that started my new addiction to diecast collecting, the 1969 Dodge Dart. My Dad used to own such a car and when I saw it in model form, I had to have it. I then looked into Johnny Lightning cars and couldn't believe the quality of those 1/64 scale cars! Wow, very nice details. Of course some are better than others, but in general, they are very good. I have now a small collection of cars that is growing daily and beyond Johnny Lightning.
